Lightweight Alternative to Glass

Polycarbonate is considerably lighter and easier to handle than traditional glass, making it particularly useful for timber-supported roofs and DIY installations.

The sheet can be cut to the required size and installed using compatible glazing bars, end closures, sealing tapes and suitable fixings.

Installing 10mm Twin Wall Polycarbonate

The internal channels of the polycarbonate sheet should run down the direction of the roof slope so that condensation within the sheet structure can drain correctly.

The sheet ends should be finished using suitable sealing and breather tapes together with compatible end closures. Correct glazing bars should be used between sheets and sufficient allowance should be made for thermal expansion and contraction.

Clear, Bronze or Opal Polycarbonate?

Opal polycarbonate is a good choice where softer daylight and reduced glare are more important than maximum light transmission.

Clear polycarbonate is better where maximum daylight is required, while Bronze provides a tinted appearance that can also help reduce solar brightness.
