Large Glass Rooflight for Extensions
A 2m x 5.5m glass rooflight can create an impressive overhead glazed feature within a large extension, helping natural daylight reach areas that may be positioned away from conventional windows and external doors.
The long format works particularly well above open-plan kitchens, dining areas and living spaces, including installations running above a large kitchen island or through the centre of an extension.
Commercial Glass Rooflight
The substantial dimensions also make this rooflight particularly suitable for commercial flat roof applications. With up to approximately 11m² of internal rooflight area, it can provide a large source of overhead natural daylight.
Typical applications include:
- Large residential extensions
- Open-plan kitchens
- Kitchen-diners
- Large living spaces
- Commercial buildings
- Offices and workplaces
- Reception areas
- Showrooms
- Retail premises
- Covered walkways
- Communal areas
- New-build developments
Important Rooflight Measuring Information
The dimensions entered when ordering are the internal frame measurements.
The surrounding profiles are approximately 70mm wide, so approximately 70mm must be added to each side when calculating the overall external frame dimensions.
2000mm x 5500mm Rooflight Size Example
- Internal Frame: 2000mm x 5500mm
- Approx. External Frame: 2140mm x 5640mm
Where optional welded cills are selected, additional allowance must be made for the overall external dimensions.
Please check all measurements carefully before constructing the roof opening, kerb or supporting structure.
Low-E Toughened Glass Rooflight
The standard rooflight is supplied with Low-E toughened, argon-filled glass, combining natural daylight with safety and good thermal performance.
Low-E glass incorporates a specialist coating designed to reduce heat transfer through the glazing, while argon within the sealed units further improves thermal efficiency.
Double or Triple Glazing Options
Choose the glazing specification most appropriate for your project, with double and triple-glazed options available depending on the selected configuration.
- Low-E Toughened Glass
- Argon-Filled Sealed Units
- Double Glazing
- Triple Glazing
- Self-Cleaning Glass Upgrade
- Blue Tint Glass Upgrade
Self-Cleaning Glass for Large Rooflights
An optional self-cleaning glass upgrade is available and can be particularly useful on a large 2m x 5.5m rooflight where regular access to the external surface of the glazing may be difficult.
This makes self-cleaning glass worth considering for large residential extensions and commercial rooflight installations.
Blue Tint Glass Option
Blue tint glazing is available where an alternative appearance to standard clear roof glazing is preferred.
Select the required glass specification when configuring your made-to-measure rooflight.
Strong Roof Glazing Bar System
The rooflight uses a robust roof glazing bar system designed to securely support the glazing and create a strong, durable finished roof structure.
The system allows substantial made-to-measure rooflights to be produced while providing a practical method of assembly and installation.
Rooflight Frame Colour Options
Select from a range of frame and roof bar finishes to coordinate the rooflight with the surrounding building:
- White
- Rosewood
- Mahogany
- Light Oak
Aluminium roof bars are also available in selected Light Oak, Mahogany and Rosewood finishes.
Optional Hunter Regency Guttering
An optional Hunter Regency guttering system can be supplied where rainwater collection is required around the rooflight.
Depending on the selected configuration, the guttering package can include:
- Hunter Regency guttering
- Downpipes
- Downpipe shoes
- Gutter spigots
- 90° gutter angles
- Traditional gutter brackets
Optional Cresting and Finials
Optional cresting and finials can be added where a more traditional or decorative appearance is required.
Alternatively, these can be omitted to maintain a cleaner contemporary appearance for modern residential and commercial projects.
Flat-Packed or Part-Assembled Rooflight
Choose the assembly option most appropriate for the installation and available site access:
- Flat-Packed: Supplied ready for assembly on site.
- Pre-Assembled to Glazing Stage: Main roof structure assembled before delivery, with the glass and finishing trims installed on site.
Delivery of a 2m x 5.5m Rooflight
This is a very large made-to-measure rooflight, so delivery access, unloading and safe handling of the components should be considered before ordering.
Please ensure there is suitable vehicle access to the delivery address and sufficient personnel available to safely unload the components.

Ordering Your 2m x 5.5m Glass Rooflight
Enter the required internal frame dimensions and select the glazing, frame colour and optional extras required for your project.
Because every rooflight is manufactured specifically for your order, please carefully check all dimensions and configuration options before ordering and before constructing the supporting roof opening or kerb.
Installation and Weatherproofing
Roof felt, flashing and surrounding weatherproofing should be correctly completed as part of the installation. The rooflight should be properly integrated with the supporting structure and surrounding flat roof system to provide a secure and weather-resistant finished installation.
