Glass Rooflight for Large Extensions

A 2.5m x 3m glass rooflight creates a substantial overhead glazed area that can transform a large extension by allowing natural daylight to enter from above.

The near-square proportions make this size particularly suitable for positioning above large kitchen islands, dining areas and central living spaces, where conventional windows may not provide sufficient daylight to the centre of the room.

Residential and Commercial Rooflight

With a potential internal area of approximately 7.5m², this made-to-measure rooflight is suitable for both domestic and commercial projects.

Typical applications include:

  • Large kitchen extensions
  • Open-plan kitchen-diners
  • Living areas
  • Garden rooms
  • Single-storey extensions
  • Commercial buildings
  • Offices
  • Reception areas
  • Showrooms
  • Retail premises
  • New-build developments

Important Rooflight Measuring Information

The dimensions entered when ordering are the internal frame measurements.

The surrounding profiles are approximately 70mm wide, meaning approximately 70mm must be added to each side when calculating the overall external frame dimensions.

2500mm x 3000mm Rooflight Size Example

  • Internal Frame: 2500mm x 3000mm
  • Approx. External Frame: 2640mm x 3140mm

Where optional welded cills are selected, further allowance must be made for the overall external dimensions.

Please carefully check the required dimensions before constructing the roof opening, kerb or supporting structure.

Low-E Toughened Glass

The standard rooflight is supplied with Low-E toughened, argon-filled glazing, providing natural daylight together with good thermal performance and safety.

Low-E glass uses a specialist coating designed to reduce heat transfer through the glazing, while the argon-filled sealed units provide additional thermal performance.

Double and Triple Glazing Options

Choose the glazing specification required for your project, with both double and triple-glazed options available depending on the selected configuration.

  • Low-E Toughened Glass
  • Argon-Filled Sealed Units
  • Double Glazing
  • Triple Glazing
  • Self-Cleaning Glass Upgrade
  • Blue Tint Glass Upgrade

Self-Cleaning Glass Option

An optional self-cleaning glass upgrade is available and can be particularly useful on larger rooflights where access to the external glass for routine cleaning may be difficult.

This makes it a useful option for large residential extensions and commercial rooflight installations.

Blue Tint Glass Option

Blue tint glazing is also available where a distinctive alternative to standard clear roof glazing is preferred.

Select the required glass specification when configuring your made-to-measure rooflight.

Strong Roof Glazing Bar System

The rooflight incorporates a robust roof glazing bar system designed to securely support the glass and create a strong, durable finished roof structure.

For a rooflight of this size, the glazing is divided and supported by the roof bar structure rather than relying on one exceptionally large pane of glass.

Rooflight Frame Colour Options

Select from a range of frame and roof bar finishes to coordinate the rooflight with the surrounding property:

  • White
  • Rosewood
  • Mahogany
  • Light Oak

Aluminium roof bars are also available in selected Light Oak, Mahogany and Rosewood finishes.

Optional Hunter Regency Guttering

An optional Hunter Regency guttering system can be supplied where rainwater collection is required around the rooflight.

Depending on the selected configuration, the guttering package can include:

  • Hunter Regency guttering
  • Downpipes
  • Downpipe shoes
  • Gutter spigots
  • 90° gutter angles
  • Traditional gutter brackets

Optional Cresting and Finials

Optional decorative cresting and finials can be added where a more traditional appearance is required.

For contemporary extensions and commercial buildings, these can simply be omitted to retain a cleaner modern appearance.

Flat-Packed or Part-Assembled Rooflight

Choose the assembly option most appropriate for your project and site access:

  • Flat-Packed: Supplied ready for assembly on site.
  • Pre-Assembled to Glazing Stage: The main roof structure is assembled before delivery, with the glass and finishing trims installed on site.

Delivery of Large Glass Rooflights

A 2.5m x 3m rooflight is a large made-to-measure product, so access to the delivery address and the safe unloading and handling of the components should be considered before ordering.

Please ensure there is suitable vehicle access and sufficient assistance available to safely unload the rooflight components when delivered.

Enter the required internal frame dimensions and select the glazing, colour and optional extras required for your project.

Because every rooflight is manufactured specifically for your order, please check all measurements carefully before ordering and before constructing the supporting roof opening or kerb.

Installation and Weatherproofing

Roof felt, flashing and surrounding weatherproofing should be correctly completed as part of the installation. The rooflight must be properly integrated with the supporting structure and surrounding flat roof system to provide a secure and weather-resistant finished installation.
