Lightweight Alternative to Glass

Polycarbonate is considerably lighter and easier to handle than traditional glass. This makes it a popular choice for timber-supported roofs and DIY installations where a strong but manageable glazing material is required.

The sheets can be cut to the required size and installed using compatible glazing bars, end closures, sealing tapes and suitable fixings.

Long-Lasting Polycarbonate Roofing

Multiwall polycarbonate is designed specifically for demanding exterior applications. The impact-resistant construction provides a strong roofing surface while the UV-protected exterior helps protect the sheet against degradation caused by sunlight.

When correctly installed, these sheets are supplied with a 10-year guarantee.

Installing 10mm Twin Wall Polycarbonate

The internal channels of the polycarbonate sheet should always run down the direction of the roof slope. This allows any condensation within the sheet structure to drain correctly.

The sheet ends should be finished using suitable sealing and breather tapes together with compatible end closures. Correct glazing bars should be used between sheets and sufficient allowance must be made for thermal expansion and contraction.

Clear, Bronze or Opal Polycarbonate?

Clear polycarbonate is the best option where maximum natural daylight is required.

For particularly sunny or south-facing roofs, Bronze or Opal polycarbonate can be considered where reducing glare and solar brightness is more important than maximum light transmission.
