Description :

Stelmax 1985 Adhesive is an easily applied PVC resin and solvent based mix which bonds readily to form maintenance free joints of exceptional strength when used to bond both plasticised and rigid PVC and ABS. 1985 Adhesive is used extensively within the window industry for the installation of frames and attachments and is particularly suitable where bonding is only possible over small and narrow surface areas, When dry the product will exhibit weathering, UV and chemical resistance similar to that of a good quality rigid PVC.

1985 Adhesive is primarily available in both Clear and White format with other colours available on request. For all enquiries please refer to the contact details listed. This product is an ADHESIVE and is not designed to be used as a gap filler and thus exhibits no gap filling properties that are characteristic with Stelmax gap filler sealants, This product should also not be used in conjunction with activators. Due to the many applications and variety of substrates on the market, it is the end users sole responsibility to ensure that this product is suitable for its intended application and the products compatibility with all materials, Information in this publication and otherwise supplied to users is based on our general experience and is given in good faith, but because of the many particular factors which are outside our knowledge and control and which may affect the use of these products, no warranty is given or is implied with respect to such information, Stelmax Limited reserves the right to alter specifications without prior notice at any time, as our policy is one of constant improvement.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Ensure surfaces to which the adhesive is to be applied are clean and dry. Clean all areas with either Stelmax PVC Ultraclean or Thinners & Cleaning Fluid prior to application.

Remove the cap from the 1985 135gm tube, invert and pierce the sealed membrane, Attach the tapered applicator nozzle and trim the nozzle to the desired aperture using a sharp knife. Run a continuous thin film of adhesive to one surface only, bring both surfaces together immediately, and keep them under light pressure, When bonding very flexible material maintain pressure for a few seconds, extending to several minutes with rigid PVC, Adheres almost immediately on contact, although, the quantity applied, as well as the temperature and weather conditions will primarily determine the curing process at time of application.

Remove any excess material immediately with either Stelmax PVC Ultraclean or Thinners & Cleaning Fluid. To retain the product in a usable condition, seal the end of the nozzle with polythene or, alternatively, replace the tube cap after use and when the tube is empty.

SAFETY DATA SHEET

IDENTIFICATION OF PREPARATION
Adhesive 1985

COMPOSITION INFORMATION
Tetrahydrofuran <75%

HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Highly flammable solution, may form explosive peroxides. Solution irritating to eyes and respiratory system.

FIRST AID MEASURES
EYE CONTACT. Irritant. In case of contact, irrigate immediately with plenty of water and seek medical aid.
SKIN CONTACT. May irritate. It may be absorbed through the skin causing systemic effects. If spilled on skin, wipe off excess and wash with soap and water.
INHALATION. Irritant. May cause narcosis and systemic effects. Avoid high concentrations, ventilate area well. If affected by vapour, move to fresh air and seek medical aid if symptoms persist.
INGESTION. In case of ingestion, wash out mouth with water and, give plenty of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately. If unconscious, turn on side.

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA. Alcohol resistant foam, dry chemical or vaporising liquid. Earth/sand for small fires.
UNSUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA Water jet.
FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS / HARMFUL COMBUSTION PRODS. The vapours readily form ignitable and explosive mixtures with air at normal temperatures. The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground, hence distant ignition is possible. Incomplete combustion may generate toxic fumes of carbon monoxide. May form organic peroxides.
SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES Keep containers cool with water spray. Self contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing should be worn ( See exposure control).

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
EYE PROTECTION Goggles if risk of splashing.
SKIN PROTECTION Solvent resistant gloves neoprene or nitrile rubber.
VENTILATION Good local.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION Vapour respirator if no ventilation.
SPILLAGE OR LEAK PROCEDURES Absorb on sand or earth. Extinguish all sources of ignition.
Ventilate area. Do not allow to enter drains.

HANDLING & STORAGE
Avoid all sources of ignition, sparks, flames, electrical equipment, arc lights, static discharges etc.
No smoking.
Keep containers tightly dosed, away from oxidizing agents.
Store at moderate room temperature in closed containers.

EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
