Large Glass Rooflight for Kitchen Extensions

The 1.5m x 2.5m glass rooflight provides a large glazed area capable of introducing natural daylight into the centre of an extension where conventional windows and doors may not provide sufficient light.

It can create an impressive feature above a kitchen island, dining table or central open-plan living area while helping daylight reach further into the room.

Typical applications include:

  • Kitchen extensions
  • Kitchen-diners
  • Open-plan living spaces
  • Dining rooms
  • Garden rooms
  • Rear extensions
  • Flat roof extensions
  • Home renovations
  • New-build properties
  • Commercial buildings

1500mm x 2500mm Rooflight for Open-Plan Living

A rooflight measuring up to 1500mm x 2500mm internally provides approximately 3.75 square metres of internal rooflight area at the maximum dimensions.

The proportions make this size particularly suitable for larger residential extensions where a broad area of overhead glazing is required without moving into the very long, narrow rooflight designs commonly used for corridors and commercial walkways.

Important Rooflight Measuring Information

The dimensions entered when ordering are the internal frame measurements.

The surrounding profiles add approximately 70mm to each side, making the approximate external frame dimensions 140mm greater than the stated internal dimensions in both directions.

1500mm x 2500mm Rooflight Size Example

A rooflight ordered at the maximum 1500mm x 2500mm internal frame size would have approximate frame dimensions of:

  • Internal Frame: 1500mm x 2500mm
  • Approx. External Frame: 1640mm x 2640mm

Optional Welded Cill Dimensions

Where welded cills are selected, additional allowance must be made for the overall dimensions of the rooflight.

Where the cill extends approximately 160mm from each side of the internal frame measurement, a maximum-size rooflight would have approximate overall cill dimensions of:

  • Internal Frame: 1500mm x 2500mm
  • Approx. Overall Cill: 1820mm x 2820mm

Please carefully check the internal frame, external frame and overall cill dimensions before constructing the roof opening, kerb or supporting structure.

Low-E Toughened Glass Rooflight

The standard rooflight is supplied with Low-E toughened, argon-filled glass, combining natural daylight with safety and thermal performance.

The Low-E coating is designed to reduce heat transfer through the glazing, while argon gas within the sealed glass units further improves thermal performance.

Double or Triple Glazed Rooflight

Choose the glazing specification most appropriate for your project, with double and triple-glazed options available depending on the selected configuration.

  • Low-E Toughened Glass
  • Argon-Filled Sealed Units
  • Double Glazing
  • Triple Glazing
  • Self-Cleaning Glass Upgrade
  • Blue Tint Glass Upgrade

Self-Cleaning Glass Option

An optional self-cleaning glass upgrade is available to help reduce routine cleaning of the external glass surface.

This can be particularly useful on larger rooflights where access to the outside of the glazing may be difficult once the rooflight has been installed.

Blue Tint Glass Option

Blue tint glass is also available where an alternative appearance to standard clear roof glazing is preferred.

Select the required glass specification when configuring your made-to-measure rooflight.

Durable Roof Glazing Bar System

The rooflight uses a strong roof glazing bar system designed to securely support the glass and provide a durable finished roof structure.

The system allows the rooflight to be manufactured specifically for the required dimensions while providing the support needed for the selected glazing configuration.

Choice of Rooflight Frame Colours

Select from a range of profile and roof bar finishes to coordinate the rooflight with your property:

  • White
  • Rosewood
  • Mahogany
  • Light Oak

Aluminium roof bars are also available in selected finishes including Light Oak, Mahogany and Rosewood.

Optional Hunter Regency Guttering

An optional Hunter Regency guttering package can be supplied where rainwater collection is required around the rooflight.

Depending on the selected roof configuration, the package can include the appropriate gutter sections, downpipes, spigots, brackets and connecting components.

Optional Cresting and Finials

Decorative cresting and finials can be added where a more traditional appearance is required.

These provide an alternative to the cleaner contemporary appearance of a rooflight without decorative cresting.

Flat-Packed or Part-Assembled Rooflight

Choose the assembly option most suitable for your installation:

  • Flat-Packed: Supplied ready for assembly on site.
  • Pre-Assembled to Glazing Stage: Main structure assembled before delivery, with the glass and finishing trims installed on site.

Suitable assistance will be required for unloading the pre-assembled option. Please consider vehicle access, handling and access to the installation area before ordering.

Glass Rooflight Above a Kitchen Island

A larger glass rooflight above a kitchen island can become a central feature of a new extension, introducing natural light directly over one of the most frequently used areas of the room.

The made-to-measure design allows the dimensions to be selected to complement the proportions of the kitchen, dining area or surrounding roof structure.

Rooflight for Garden Rooms and Flat Roof Extensions

This rooflight is also suitable for garden rooms and flat roof extensions where large areas of natural daylight are required without using a fully glazed roof.

The combination of overhead glazing and conventional insulated roofing can provide an attractive solution for contemporary extensions and renovation projects.

Because every rooflight is manufactured specifically for your order, please carefully check all dimensions and configuration options before ordering and before constructing the supporting roof opening or kerb.

The rooflight must be properly integrated with the supporting structure and surrounding flat roof system to provide a secure and weather-resistant finished installation.
